If You Can’t Spend Time Apart, You Shouldn’t Be Together

Even if it was possible to spend every waking moment with your boyfriend, it would be a bad idea. Loving him doesn’t mean you need him around all the time. It’s actually healthier for both of you to spend some time on your own. After all, if you can’t spend time apart, you shouldn’t be together.

  1. It should make you miss him, not forget about him.You shouldn’t be acting like you’re single again after spending a week without him. As they say, absence should make the heart grow fonder. If his disappearance has the opposite effect, then maybe you two aren’t meant to be.
  2. You should have your own lives. It’s important to have separate friends, jobs, and hobbies. That way, you can still feel like an independent woman who doesn’t let a man dictate her every move, even though you’re part of a lifelong team.
  3. You should trust him.You shouldn’t be paranoid whenever he steps out of the house without you. If you think he’ll cheat as soon as he’s out of your line of sight, then you shouldn’t be dating him in the first place. It doesn’t matter if there’s love if there’s no trust.
  4. Hearing his voice should be enough.Even if you’re miles apart, you can text, call, and Skype to keep in touch. If you two have a strong relationship, then those conversations will keep you satisfied, even though there won’t be any touching involved.
  5. It’ll make your time together more memorable. If you’re always together, you’ll end up taking each other for granted. It’s good to have a reminder that your partner is a privilege, not a right. All of the time you spend apart will make your time together feel more valuable.
  6. You shouldn’t rely on him.You should be with him, because you want him, not because you need him. If you’re relying on him to make your meals and do your laundry, then you need to make some changes in your life. He shouldn’t act more like your servant than your soulmate.
  7. You’ll go crazy if you’re together constantly. If you’re always together, there are more opportunities for fights. But if you have a place to go to cool down when you’re upset, you’ll be able to talk to your partner rationally later in the day. A little separation can be a good thing.
  8. It’s unreasonable.Even if you want your partner around all the time, he’s not going to want you around all the time. It’s nothing against you. He just needs a little time to himself, and if you take a step back, you’ll realize that you need the same thing.
  9. It’ll help you make a better life for yourselves. You can’t get upset when your jobs force you to spend a little time apart. After all, you need to work in order to create a better future for the two of you. In the long run, it’ll strengthen your relationship.
  10. Your love should withstand anything. If a little bit of distance is a problem for you, then how are you going to make it through all of the other relationship problems that pop up? If you really want to stay together forever, you’ll find a way to survive the toughest situations.
