Every couple deals with their milestones differently. Some of them will come out stronger, even after unfortunate events, like a death in the family. However, some of them will decide to split up, even during traditionally positive milestones. It all depends on the couple. These are a few moments that will either strengthen your relationship or destroy it:

  1. Your first fight. You can either compromise with each other or you can let the argument destroy your relationship. That’s why your first major fight will either end in makeup sex or breakup sex.
  2. Moving in together. When you live under the same roof, you won’t be able to escape his snoring or his poker buddies. You might be thrilled to sleep with him every night and cuddle every morning, or you might wish you had your old bed back.
  3. Having sex. If he’s a player, the first time you sleep together will be the last. Otherwise, having sex should strengthen your relationship, because it’ll help you two get to know each other in a more intimate way.
  4. Going on vacation. Deciding where to go on vacation is hard enough on its own. Then there’s the stress of packing, of finding your way around a foreign city, and of dealing with crummy hotel rooms.
  5. Saying, “I love you.” If you’re both ready to take the next step, your partner will love hearing these three little words. If he doesn’t feel the same way, or is terrified of commitment, then he’ll be gone before you get the last word out.
  6. Meeting his parents. You don’t have to love your partner’s parents, but you do have to put up with them. If they end up hating you, then they just might convince your boyfriend to find a new girlfriend.
  7. Time apart. If you have to go away on a business trip without him, one of two things will happen. Either distance will make your heart grow fonder, or he’ll be out of sight and out of mind.
  8. A death in the family. When someone close to you dies, your entire world will change. That’s why funerals can help you see how much your boyfriend loves you, because he’ll either do whatever he can to console you or will want nothing to do with your tears.
  9. Discussing your exes. Your boyfriend might get jealous whenever you mention your ex. However, if he trusts you, then hearing about your past will only make your relationship stronger.
  10. Having children. If you two agree on how to raise your children, it should be smooth sailing. However, if you have conflicting morals, or if you never even wanted kids in the first place, then a baby is going to strain your relationship.
