8 Things That Will Make You Miss Your Ex After Your Breakup

Getting over someone you’ve shared your life (and orgasms) with takes time. Sure, he might have been a total loser, but that doesn’t mean that erasing him from your life will be any easier. Even if you’re more relieved than hurt about the fact that he’s finally gone, there are still some things that will make you nostalgic as hell about your happier times together.

  1. That album you bumped religiously for months after it came out. So it’s your day off and you’ve decided that the most productive way to spend it is by cleaning your apartment. You open up iTunes and hit shuffle on a random playlist, only to hear a song (or 10) that reminds you automatically of him. It stops you dead in your tracks, and suddenly you’re incredibly sad. It’s unhealthy nostalgia you know you don’t need, so move on to the next song.
  2. Netflix marathons. Because you used to set aside your weekends for Netflix and chill sessions. However, since you’re no longer in a relationship with him (you’re now officially in a relationship with Netflix), weekends are all about chilling on your own, leaving you with way too much time to think.
  3. Your phone. Whether you’ve been together for five weeks, five months, or five years, your smartphone will surely have lots of pictures and messages to remind you of him. Do yourself a favor and clean it up. Erase his phone number, too, so the chances of drunk texting him will be decreased.
  4. Instagram, Facebook, etc. No matter your social network of choice, you’ll surely be tempted to browse through your old photos and convos whenever you’re online. After immersing yourself in the not-so-thrilling memories of the past, you stalk him just to see if he’s doing great (but kind of hoping that he’s not). You ended up disgusted after finding out that he has learned to manage living without you. How could he?
  5. That stuffed giraffe he won you at the carnival last summer. Any couple that’s together for any real length of time will invariably give each other gifts not only for special occasions, but “just because”, too. It’s those random gifts that’ll stick with you — time to box them up and put them out of your sight to save your sanity.
  6. That random toothbrush he left at your house. You obviously can’t call him to say he should come back and get his stuff now, so you can either throw it away or send it back by mail, which would be kinda lame. Instead, you hang onto it for sentimental reasons, which isn’t doing you any favors.
  7. The smell of his cologne. That cologne he wears may have faded from your pillows by now, but whenever you’re out and about and smell another guy wearing anything similar, you get all wistful and sad, remembering what it felt like to be cuddled up to that scent every night. Girl, get a grip.
  8. Your bed. Here’s where you shared pillow talks, cuddles, and orgasms. And since it won’t make sense to replace your bed to dim the memories, you’ll have to figure out a way to let it get to you just a little bit less — maybe by making some new memories with a new guy?
