You don’t need to be in a relationship in order to have a guy mess with your mind — in fact, you don’t even need to know his name. Maybe you’re just paranoid, but you can’t help but feel a little crazy whenever a guy does any of the following:
- Messaging you first thing in the morning. Does it mean that he’s interested in you or that he’s just bored at work? Even more importantly, if he’s continuing a conversation from a text you sent him last night, does it still count as him texting us first?
- Complimenting you on your appearance. You wouldn’t think anything of it if your girlfriends commented on your new top, but when a straight guy does it, you wonder if he was actually complimenting your cleavage. His compliment couldn’t have been innocent, could it?
- Checking you out without bothering to hide it. Is he admiring your ass because he wants to sleep with you, because he actually wants to date you or just because he’s a man with a pulse? It’s impossible to tell why he’s looking you up and down, because it could mean three completely different things.
- Smirking at you from across the room. Is he being friendly or is it some subtle form of flirting? Or maybe he’s just laughing at you for having food stuck in your teeth? You don’t want to miss out on your chance to walk over and talk to him, but you don’t want to misinterpret anything and make a fool out of yourself, either.
- Looking sexy when he knows he’s going to see you. When you like a guy, you can spend hours in front of the mirror, trying to pick the person outfit and apply your makeup just the right way. So when a man wears a sexy cologne or changes up his hairstyle, it makes you wonder if he’s showing off for you. Of course, it’s just as confusing when he shows up in a stained t-shirt and ripped jeans…
- Sending you picture after picture on SnapChat. Even if he’s only sending you pictures of his face, you’ll wonder if he’s waiting for you to take things to the next level. Does he expect you to reply with a sexy picture? Even worse, will he be sending a picture of his penis soon?
- Asking you to hang out one-on-one. What does this entail? At least if he asked you to “Netflix and chill,” you’d know what he really wanted. A hangout session could mean two people having animalistic sex, two people going on a romantic date, or two friends catching up.
- Casually making sexual comments. If he can talk openly with you about sex, does that mean he thinks of you as a potential girlfriend or as just one of the guys? Every raunchy joke he tells will only make you more confused about where you stand with him.
- Using emojis in every single text message. Did he use a smiley face, because he wanted to make his text look a little more flirty, or because he just got his first iPhone and wants to use all of the features? The little pictures are supposed to make the tone of his messages easier to understand, but they only make them more confusing.
- Bragging about other women. Is he trying to play hard to get? Or is he attempting to make it clear that he’s interested in another girl and that you don’t stand a chance?
