Why You Should Take Yourself On Dates When There’s No Guy To Do It

You don’t sit around waiting for men to handle anything else in your life, so why are you waiting for one to ask you out on a dinner date before you try that new sushi spot in your neighborhood? Whether you’re flying solo or you’re in a relationship, there are plenty of reasons to take yourself out for a night on the town – because at the end of the day, the most important relationship is the one you have with yourself.

  1. Because you can. You’re a self-sufficient woman and you can afford to treat yourself to some grub, thank you very much.
  2. You might meet someone. Ever been on a crappy date and stare longingly over his shoulder at all the hotties sitting at the restaurant bar? Hit it up alone and you won’t have that problem.
  3. You’ll become a more well-rounded person. For some reason, none of your friends are interested in that free concert that’s going on this weekend, but no matter, because you’re stoked to go on your own. Plus, it gives you something to talk about down the road when you meet a date of the opposite sex.
  4. There are so many great restaurants to try. In fact, there are usually too many great restaurants to even make it to all of them when other people are involved. Exploring on your own, however, can solve that problem real quick.
  5. We could all use some alone time. As much as we like to fill our schedules with non-stop activity, sometimes there’s nothing more we need than some time alone with our own thoughts.
  6. You’re awesome company. When you truly enjoy your own company, you’ll never be nervous for a real date again since you know that you’re great to be around.
  7. You’ll get to know your town. If there’s any uncharted territory in your city, turn it into a mission and explore with total freedom.
  8. You can order whatever you want. Not that you should be tailoring your meals to someone else’s opinion anyway, but sometimes it’s nice to have some peace and quiet when you feel like eating cake for dinner.
  9. It feels super mature. You didn’t feel like much of a responsible adult recovering from that hangover last weekend, but look at you now, all grown up and capable of ordering a table for one.
  10. There’s no one to judge your movie choice. Some movies are just better in the theater, and you don’t always need a guy around when you feel like crying through a movie written for teenagers.
  11. There’s nothing better than people watching. There’s nothing quite like uninterrupted people watching time, and it’s totally different taking in the outside world when you’re not trying to hold down a conversation with someone you might want a relationship with.
  12. Dining alone is a different type of culinary experience. There is actually a restaurant out there that only serves solo parties. All that alone time really gives you the chance to savor what you’re chowing down on.
  13. It’s good to treat yourself. It’s nice to be taken out and treated by other people, as well, but sometimes it feels good to be in charge of the self-pampering. You deserve it.
