Why Day Drinking Is The Best Way To Get Your Weekend Buzz

Getting buzzed off your favorite alcoholic drink (responsibly, of course) always has its fun perks, but it can also be pretty exhausting and occasionally even slightly pointless, since it usually requires a night out at a local bar with rowdy crowds and expensive cocktails. There’s nothing wrong with a night out on the town, but there’s something special about day drinking, which, while slightly less socially acceptable for those of us who aren’t on vacation, has plenty of perks, including cheaper prices (hello, happy hour)!

  1. The hangovers are less intense. When you day drink and make it into bed at a reasonable hour, you’ll actually have time to burn off the hangover before morning, unlike when you drink until 3am and try to make spin class at 8.
  2. You can see dudes in full daylight. When it’s light out, you only need to deal with your beer goggles, not with the dark recesses of the night that cause you to make out with questionable people.
  3. You seem more mature on social media. You might be totally plastered at that winery, but it’s wine, and it’s sunny. You look a million times more grown up than the girl posting tequila shot photos in a grimy dive bar.
  4. You get to drink for longer periods of time. By the time you hit the bars, sometimes the night is over before it even really begins. With day drinking, however, you can make the fun last for the entire day if you pace it right.
  5. You’re better at moderation. In the daytime, you’re not generally in a rush to pound anything, and something about the daylight can help to keep things a little more respectable and keep you from getting too sloppy.
  6. You’re actually supposed to be eating. Unlike that drunken call for pizza at 2AM, during the day you’re actually expected to eat, so any hunger you need to fill is totally legit.
  7. You can still be a part of society. Day drinking activities are happening while the world is awake and operational, not during vampire hours when the only other business open is the 24-hour bodega on the corner.
  8. You can snap better photos. Hello, is there any better lighting than being in a shadow in full daylight? There are no grainy selfies when you don’t actually need a flash to get the pic.
  9. It feels like an adventure. Day drinking feels adult and rebellious all at once. You do what you want!
  10. It’s safer. Walking along a city street at noon is generally a safer bet than trying to make it home alone at the end of the night, and that’s real.
  11. You can hang out with your friends that refuse to go out at night. You know you have those friends that are anti-going out, but getting them out of the house during the day is a totally different story. Come one, come all!
  12. You have more fun options for your buzz. At night, your drunken options are fairly limited to bars, but during the day you can do pretty much anything with a reasonable buzz.
