Everyone’s always so busy talking about romantic love that they forget to talk about the love between friends. After all, boys will come and go, but best friends will always be there for you. When a guy screwed me over, you were right by my side, and here are all the ways I want to thank you:

  1. Thank you for being everything I needed. I wanted a boyfriend who would comfort me when I was upset, would make me laugh until I teared up, and would make me feel like I was something special. I didn’t get that from my ex. But when I lost him, I realized that I already had everything I needed within you.
  2. Thank you for letting me rant. I know you didn’t want to hear about my boy problems for the hundredth time, but you acted like it wasn’t a big deal whenever I launched into a new rant. I want you to know how much I appreciate your willingness to listen to me whine. I’d do the same for you.
  3. Thank you for drinking with me. Lord knows I needed that vodka. Even if you didn’t pay for all the rounds, I’m glad I had someone around to help me forget his name.
  4. Thank you for reminding me of who I am. Breakups always cause me to doubt myself. But you kept me grounded. You reminded me of how smart, funny, and downright sexy I am.
  5. Thank you for leaving out the “I told you so.” You knew he wasn’t the right one for me. You knew that I deserved better. But you kept your criticism to a minimum when I was happily dating him, and you didn’t make fun of me when it all blew up in my face.
  6. Thank you for reminding me of how great single life can be. It’s hard to be upset about being unattached when I have so much fun going out on the town with you. You’ve helped me remember that boys aren’t the only thing in the world. Hanging out with good friends can be just as exciting good sex.
  7. Thank you for pointing out all of the reasons why he was a loser. You picked up on some things that I didn’t even see myself. Because of you, I won’t even think about going back to him. Even if I have a brief relapse, I know you’ll be around to bring me back to my senses.
  8. Thank you for playing wing-womanI probably won’t end up dating the guys you’ve introduced me to, but they’ve helped keep my mind occupied. It’s nice to fantasize about someone other than my ex on lonely nights.
  9. Thank you for loving me. My ex might not love me, but I know you always will. That’s all I need.
  10. Thank you for being the best friend there is. It doesn’t matter how many more failed relationships I have, because I know you’ll always be there to help me through the heartbreak. And if one of those relationships work out, I want you to know you’re going to be my maid of honor. No doubt about it.
