Simone Biles Calls Out People Considering Jeffrey Dahmer Halloween Costumes

Simone Biles has called out people considering dressing up as Jeffrey Dahmer this Halloween. The Olympic gold medalist took to Twitter on Wednesday, October 19 to express her disgust with those who are glorifying the serial killer with their costume choice.

  1. It’s just not okay. “I’m just gon’ go ‘head and say it. Put the Jeffrey Dahmer costumes back in the closet. We ain’t having it!!!!!!” she wrote. There’s no room for discussion in Biles’ book on this matter, clearly.
  2. Many people agreed with her. At the time of writing, Simone Biles’ tweet about Jeffrey Dahmer has nearly 11,000 retweets and 120,000 likes. A lot of people find this disrespectful and simply not okay. We can’t blame them!
  3. Dahmer’s popularity has been on the rise thanks to Netflix. Their new series has brought the killer back into public view, leading to a surge of interest in him and dressing up like him this Halloween. However, not only does Biles take issue with this, but one of the victim’s mothers has spoken out. Shirley Hughes, the mother of victim Tony Hughes, called the costumes “evil.” She’s right.
  4. Of course, it likely won’t stop those who planned to dress up as Dahmer this October 31. However, it might make them think a bit more. Dahmer is not a fictional character like Freddy Kreuger or Jason. He was a real man who killed many innocent people. We shouldn’t glorify him.
