No One Cares About You & That’s The Most Liberating Thing There Is

Most people spend there days thinking about themselves rather than everyone around them. Admit it – how often do you spend your days thinking about that girl’s awful shirt, or that totally embarrassing guy that stuttered while saying hi to you at the bar? Probably not that often.

The truth is, it’s time to ditch the feeling of being self-conscious and all of the other ways you filter what you do or say because you are afraid of what other’s might think. At the end of the day, no one cares. Okay, so that might not be entirely true . People that love and care about you care. They want you be happy, healthy, and thriving. Still, the truth is that you probably spend more time wondering what people are thinking about you than the amount of time they actually ARE. It’s time to free yourself of this baggage, because caring about what other people think will never bring you happiness. Here are a few reasons to stop giving a damn, and start doing what you want.

  1. It’ll keep you from pursuing your dreams. If you’re constantly concerned about what others think, you’ll never get as far as you want in life. Meeting people’s standards is exhausting and restrictive. There will be times where you’re going to have to put your reputation and pride on the line to get what you want. If it feels right to you, go for it and stop worrying about how others are going to react.
  2. Everyone hates a fake. Whether it’s your fashion or how you project yourself on social media, people can tell when you’re BS’ing. Who cares what the fashion laws say? If you want to wear something because it makes you feel good, wear it! You may even start setting trends rather than following them.
  3. People’s opinions of you are wrong. People are idiots. They have no idea who you are as a person, yet they feel like they have the right to judge you. Wrong. You’re the only person that truly knows yourself. Don’t let the opinions of others change your opinions of yourself. Keep the same principle in mind the next time you want to judge someone else.
  4. It’ll only bring you down. Happiness is living in the moment. As soon as you worry about what others are thinking, the moment passes you by. If one jab, one small insult, or one backhanded compliment sends you into a funk or a fit of self-loathing, you wont ever be happy. It takes courage to stop caring about what other’s think. Channel your inner lioness and move on.
  5. You’ll be surrounded by the wrong type of people. Do you ever see that girl at the park, the bar, or even at the grocery store that you automatically want to befriend? You appreciate people that are similar to you, but if you aren’t acting like yourself, you’ll never meet anyone that appreciates who you really are. If you act like a stuck up bitch, you’ll only attract stuck up bitches. No one needs more stuck up bitches in their life, so be you.
  6. Life is way too short. You only get one chance at this thing called life, so why spend it worrying about people’s opinions? If other people don’t like who you are, so be it. As long as you’re pursuing your passions and dreams, the right people will love you for it. Live your life like it’s just you running the show, and you’ll finally be free.
