Earlier this year, Netflix confirmed that fans of the original movie The Christmas Chronicles were getting an early gift in the form of a sequel. However, news about the follow-up has been pretty much non-existent since then… until now, that is. The streaming giant released the first teaser trailer for The Christmas Chronicles 2 and it’s getting everyone (including myself) super hyped for the holidays!
- Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn are back as Mr. and Mrs. Claus. I literally don’t need to know anything else about the plot, who else is in the movie, or any other details. Simply having the confirmation that Goldie and Kurt are on board has sold me immediately. They’re the best Santa and Mrs. Claus ever!
- If you’ve never seen the original Christmas Chronicles, you’re missing out. Before you press play on the trailer for The Christmas Chronicles 2, you’ll need to watch the original, which is a holiday classic at this point. It’s all about these kids named Kate and Teddy Pierce who are “true believers” and decide to try and capture Santa on Christmas Eve. Need I say more?
- The Christmas Chronicles 2 follows on from the first. We’re now meeting up with Kate as a teenager. She’s totally different than her younger self and is altogether disillusioned with the holidays and life in general. Teddy’s there too, and the siblings are “unexpectedly reunited with Santa Claus when a mysterious, magical troublemaker named Belsnickel (played by Julian Dennison) threatens to destroy Christmas forever.”
- Sadly, we still have a while to wait before we can watch the whole thing. The Christmas Chronicles 2 won’t be released on Netflix until November 25, meaning there’s still a couple months to wait. In the meantime, we can all rewatch the original and then keep looking at the teaser trailer for hints on what’s to come.
