Law Firms Are Apparently Racing To Hire Camille Vasquez After Johnny Depp Trial

Several law firms in the US are apparently desperate to hire Camille Vasquez after seeing her performance in Johnny Depp’s defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard. Vasquez was part of the legal team that helped secure Depp a $15 million judgment by the jury, working alongside en Chew; Stephanie Calnan; Andrew Crawford; Rebecca MacDowell Lecaroz; Yarelyn Mena; Jessica Meyers; and Samuel Moniz. However, she emerged as the stand-out star of the trial.

  1. The internet went crazy for Vasquez. Videos of Vasquez lodging her repeated objections during Amber Heard’s testimony as well as testimony from Heard’s witnesses racked up millions of views on TikTok and many on social media have described the attorney as “the most powerful person I’ve watched in 2022,” among other complimentary things.
  2. Talent agents are said to be “circling” Vasquez now. The New York Post reports that now the Depp trial is over, legal firms are competing against each other to try and hire Vasquez and get her to join their firms. While she’s currently employed as an associate a Brown Rudnik, many believe that she might soon be promoted to partner thanks to her performance.
  3. Vasquez was likely on track to become a partner before the Depp trial. Celebrity lawyer Judd Burstein believes the only reason Vasquez took on such a big role in the trial was that she’d already begun to prove herself. “No firm would allow her to have a role in a big trial like this if she wasn’t on the partner track,” he told The Post. “There are two factors that go into making a partner – your quality of lawyering and ability to attract business. She can probably go anywhere and make a nice deal for herself.”
  4. Vasquez has proven herself to be a “shark.” A legal source went on to claim that the community is “buzzing with firms fighting to be the highest bidder” due to Vasquez’s aggressive approach in the courtroom. She’s also said to have received multiple offers from TV networks and cable channels. “They recognize that she is the unicorn,” a source said.”A smart, savvy, poised attorney whose impactful performance during the trial propelled her to a rare level of visibility. And the fact that she is a woman of color is an added bonus.” Whether or not any of these firms get the opportunity to hire Camille Vasquez remains to be seen.
