You Know You’ve Got A Keeper When…

Finding a guy who treats you like a queen is a rare and special occasion. Sure, he’ll probably bring you flowers “just because” and actually texts you back in a reasonable amount of time, but there are other ways he’ll prove he’s your dream guy. If you notice these signs, you may have found a keeper:

1. He Actually Listens When You Talk. You can totally tell when you’re talking to a guy and he’s letting 80% of what you say go in one ear and out the other. Not this one — he loves to hear your stories and actually asks follow-up questions to show that he’s engaged and interested. Finding someone who makes you feel important, even when you’re just telling him something dumb that happened at work that day, is pretty special.
2. He Makes An Effort To Be Involved With Your Life. You shouldn’t have to beg and plead to get him to spend time with your quirky family or friends, and thankfully with your current guy, you don’t. He’s always so excited to be part of the action and goes out of his way just to get to know the people in your life. He doesn’t just hang out in the corner or make you carry the conversation — he wants to be part of it all.
3. He’s Determined AF to make big things happen. He’s not content with just going through the motions in life — he actually has plans to keep progressing to be the best man he can be, both for himself and for you. There’s something really sexy about a man that won’t settle and who has the ambition and the work ethic to make big things happen in his life and in your relationship.
4. He’s your number one fan and biggest cheerleader. No one’s candle ever went out because they lit someone else’s. He knows that by encouraging you to take control of your own dreams, he’ll be better too. You push each other to be better individuals, thereby strengthening your relationship in the process. No matter what new endeavor you’re embarking on or what big goal you set, he’s right there cheering you on.
5. He’s Treats You Like Royalty. This really shouldn’t even be on here because it’s such a no-brainer, but there are so many people that settle for complete jerks — or even just moderately “okay” guys. I don’t know who said nice guys finish last, but they must not have been looking for a serious relationship. It’s pretty sexy to be treated like gold and encouraged in life.
6. He Remembers Little details you’ve only briefly mentioned. He’s the guy that remembers you love Sour Skittles, and every now and then he’ll show up at your house with a few packets just because. Who needs flowers when you can have your favorite food? Remembering these little things about you show just how much he cares, and it’s so endearing.
7. He goes out of his way to make you feel secure. There’s something amazing about a guy that never makes you question your relationship. He can go out with the guys all he wants because you know he’s not doing anything he shouldn’t. He never hesitates to tell you his plans because he knows that there’s nothing to hide from you. He doesn’t want you to have any worries or doubts, so does whatever he can to make sure you don’t.
8. He Makes You Laugh until you cry. Sometimes life is going to throw some serious crap at you, so being able to laugh through the tough times is massively important. It keeps things fun and light, which is so much better than always feeling so serious. You should be able to laugh until you cry together — or better yet, laugh until you have to crawl out of the room for fear of dying due to lack of oxygen.
9. He Stands Up For You. It’s pretty unlikely that everyone in his life will warm up to you immediately, and there may be one or two people he knows or is related to you that you never really see eye to eye with. This guy will never make you feel bad about that, though, and he’ll definitely never let anyone talk badly about you or treat you like crap because of it. That’s the kind of guy you want in your life.
10. He genuinely compliments you on the things that matter. He calls you beautiful, funny and intelligent frequently but in such off-handed ways that it always takes you by surprise. He doesn’t just use these words to get you into bed, either — he truly means them and believes they all describe who you are. Yes, he finds you sexy, but it’s because of all the other amazing qualities you have, and that makes you feel like a million bucks.
11. He’s excited to talk about the future with you. He’s not afraid to talk about future plans with you because you’re in all the plans he has. He wants to plan vacations and weekend getaways, have you has his plus-one to his cousin’s wedding next summer and more. He has no doubts that you’ll still be around then, so why not?
