You finally like someone and you’re over the moon about it. The trouble is, you don’t know how they feel about you and whether or not they’re interested romantically. Rather than take your chances on asking them out directly, you probably want to do as much as you can to impress your crush and win them over. That makes total sense and is a great plan. Here are some tips to help you get there.
- Let your confidence shine. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t find confidence extremely attractive (unless of course you’re insecure, in which case it can be threatening). If you want to impress your crush, build up your self-worth and make sure that everything you do, say, wear, etc. is done with confidence. They won’t be able to resist a self-assured, badass woman.
- Make them laugh. When you think of your list of must-have qualities in a partner, I bet a great sense of humor features pretty high up, right? Laughter is the best medicine, the old cliche goes, and that’s true. You want a partner you can have fun with, one who sees the bright side of even the toughest situations because that’s the only way you can get through. If you can make your crush laugh by doing something silly, telling killer jokes, or even with witty asides, this will definitely impress them.
- Get to know who they really are and what makes them tick. How can you be sure that you want to win them over if you don’t really even know them? The benefits of this one are two-fold. First, you’ll be sure that they’re actually a good match for you. Second, you’ll show that you’re legitimately interested in them, who they are, and where they’re coming from. That could pique the same interest in them about you, and who knows how far it can go from there?
- Don’t try too hard or pretend to be someone you’re not. You might think that changing your personality or appearance in small ways to suit what you think your crush wants is a surefire way to win them over, but you couldn’t be more wrong. Even if it works initially, you can’t keep up the facade forever, so it’s only a matter of time before they discover that you lied and that you’re disingenuous. Always be true to who you are. You’re an amazing woman with so much to offer. Why hide that?
- Let them help you with something. This is one of the oldest tricks in the book when you want to impress your crush, especially if your crush happens to be a straight man. They have an innate need to be protectors and caregivers, so while you definitely should not act helpless (because you’re totally not) or go too far with this, there’s no harm in asking for advice or help from a guy on something so he can flex his masculinity.
- Look your best (because that’s hot). You do not have to be a supermodel in order to be attractive. Hotness is a state of mind and it comes down to that first item on the list above – confidence. Wear what makes YOU feel sexy and badass. Style your hair and wear your makeup (or don’t!) in whatever way feels authentic to you and makes you feel good in your own skin. That will be contagious and your crush will surely take notice.
- Have patience. Forming a relationship with someone takes time, and just because true love doesn’t blossom in a week or two doesn’t mean it won’t happen. Be patient, get to know them, and it’s only a matter of time before your crush is ready to take things to the next level. Fingers crossed!
