How many times have you watched guys flock to the hottie in the club or pay more attention to your better looking friend and wished you were more attractive? Well, ladies, it’s time to stop wishing for that crap right here, right now because average looking girls make the better girlfriends—and guys are finally starting to catch on.
- We all have those stunningly attractive friends who are mysteriously still single. It’s clear that attractiveness doesn’t automatically equal being in a happy couple. So why are we so obsessed with the idea that it does? Being hot might create an initial attraction, but it does nothing to make the spark last for a relationship, which is why the Megan Fox lookalikes without a sense of humor are still single, and the plain Janes who make an effort in their relationship are happily loved up.
- Average looking girls are more approachable. It must be hard being mind-blowingly good looking—the only guys brave enough to approach you and ask you out are completely deluded about their own sex appeal. Any ordinary, nice guy will be far too intimidated by her beauty to actually start a conversation with her. He will, however, happily get talking to an average looking girl who poses no threat, realize that she’s actually interesting and funny, then ask her out.
- They’ll be ready for dates on time. Being a stunner (unless you’re seriously blessed) doesn’t happen without effort. There’s hair, makeup, gym, body lotioning, tan and outfit selection to be considered before a hottie is ready for a date. An average girl, knowing her limitations in the looks area, will just slick on some mascara and be done with it. I know who I’d rather wait for to get ready.
- They’re much lower maintenance. When looks come first, sadly other things (such as fun) get pushed to the side. A hottie will be on guard about her makeup getting smudged (no romantic, teary films then), her hair being messed up (no sex, soz) and breaking a nail (no ice-breaking go-karting date for you). If you do manage to get her out of the house, you’ll be immediately recruited as Instagram photographer and have as much chance of holding her hand as her 10k followers.
- Average looking girls are more fun to be around. Spending infinitely less time thinking about their appearance frees up average looking girls to enjoy other areas of their life. An average date will happily trample through the woods with you, get sweaty dancing too enthusiastically in the club or look like a total moron balling her eyes out to Marley and Me. They may not create the wow effect in photos, but average looking girls are much more fun to be with.
- They laugh at themselves. A downside of being unbelievably attractive is that you have a tendency to assume everything is about you. Unfortunately, this includes when people are trying to have a laugh. Make a joke with a stunner and she’ll probably take it way too personally. Poke fun at a plain Jane, however, and she’ll be laughing into next week. If you can’t have a laugh with your GF, is it really going to last?
- They embrace their own style. Attractive girls tend to fit a certain fashion mold that’s all about showing off their hard-earned physique. Sadly, this leaves little room for the creative fashion decisions that make ordinary looking girls so cool. If you can’t wear dungarees because they’re too baggy or a shocking dark lipstick because it won’t match your contouring, it’s hard to let your personal style come through.
- A less attractive girl will be nicer to your friends. Hot girls are so used to being hit on that they’ll treat your friends with extreme caution. That, and they’re not actually interested in what anyone else has to say. An average girl, on the other hand, genuinely cares about you, so will naturally be interested in everyone that matters to you most. Given that she won’t care what people think of her appearance, she’ll also be trying doubly hard to impress them with her personality.
- They don’t play games. Average looking girls will not be the ones to mess you around. Not being blessed with attention from every male in the room, they’ll be more than satisfied with the guy who is showing a little extra effort. A hot girl, under the impression she can have anyone she wants, will always be on the lookout for a more attractive rival to take your place. If you want someone loyal, go for a plain Jane every time.
- They’ll love you for who you are. While a hottie is looking for the guy who looks best by her side, average looking girls are looking for someone to share their life with. They’ll be more open, warm and loving than any stunner you’ve had the misfortune to date, and be able to laugh at themselves, while taking a genuine interest in you. OK, your wedding photos might not look like a page straight from the magazines, but I know who I’d rather spend my life with.
