Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Is The Third Most Popular 2020 Presidential Candidate

Up until just a few years ago, the idea of a celebrity becoming president seemed ludicrous, impossible to fathom. However, now that Donald Trump is in office, pretty much anything is possible, and many people think Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would be a great candidate to take office in the 2020 election. Would you vote for him?

  1. Unfortunately, The Rock isn’t actually running for president. However, he was seen to be the third most popular candidate in the 2020 election according to Oddschecker, who reported the findings on behalf of UK bookmakers. Johnson has received 3.34% of all bets since they started being taken, which is odd since he’s not even running.
  2. You probably shouldn’t hold your breath for President Johnson. Even if he did decide to run, which isn’t likely, the odds on The Rock ever leading the US are said to be +40,000, which gives him about an 0.2% chance of victory. That’s a shame – surely he’d do a better job than the guy who’s there now!
  3. Johnson’s speech on the death of George Floyd only amplified people’s hopes. After Johnson posted a video message in the wake of Floyd’s murder last week, fans of The Rock championed him as an ideal political candidate. Given that Johnson has previously has to dispel rumors that he was running for office, something tells me he might be forced to clear things up again in the near future.
  4. What he said was right: we need a compassionate leader and we need to fight for equality. As The Rock said in his video, given that the current president doesn’t seem to care at all about creating a just, equal society, it’s up to us as citizens to do it. “Where is our compassionate leader who’s going to step up to our country who’s down on its knees, and extend a hand and say, ‘You stand up, stand up with me because I got you. I hear you, I’m listening to you,” he said. “‘And you have my word that I’m going to do everything in my power, until my dying day, my last breath, to do everything I can to create the change that is needed, to normalize equality because Black lives matter.’ Where are you?”
