So you have an amazing boyfriend and you do everything together. There’s the sex, obviously (which is hopefully off-the-charts amazing), but you probably sleep, eat, binge watch Netflix, and a million other things side by side. Those little everyday things bring every couple closer, but there’s one activity couples do together that make them happier and more fulfilled in their relationships than all the rest. What is this magical activity, you ask? They get drunk together.  Yup.

According to a new study published in the Journals of Gerontology Series B: Psychological Series, couples who drink together are more likely to stay together. It sounds weird, but maybe there’s a certain logic to it after all. After surveying 4,864 married couples who’d been married for an average of 33 years, researchers concluded that those who had a drink together — be it a six-pack of Bud or a light glass of wine — showed much higher levels of satisfaction in their relationship.

While getting wasted together isn’t necessarily any more important than other, less inebriated bonding activities, it’s kinda good to know that sharing that Sunday morning hangover with your guy isn’t just making you miserable, it’s making your relationship that much stronger. Go figure.
