Chris Hemsworth Will ‘Put On More Size Than Ever’ To Play Hulk Hogan

As an actor, Chris Hemsworth is no stranger to becoming a whole new person and occasionally making a physical transformation to embody his character. However, his role as Hulk Hogan in an upcoming biopic of the legendary wrestler will require him to put on “more size than ever” and undergo an “insanely physical” program leading up to filming.

  1. The as-yet-untitled movie will follow Hulk Hogan’s rise in the 1980s. I grew up watching Hulk Hogan in the WWF so this is going to be amazing! Chris Hemsworth will be playing a wrestler on the up and up, which makes it pretty obvious why he’d need to beef up, putting on extreme amounts of weight and muscle to really bring Hogan to life.
  2. Hemsworth is looking forward to the challenge. In an interview with Total Film, he admitted that while there are a lot of elements that need to fall into place, he’s really looking forward to it. “This movie is going to be a really fun project. As you can imagine, the preparation for the role will be insanely physical,” he explained. “I will have to put on more size than I ever have before, even more than I put on for Thor.”
  3. There’s more than just the physical side to contend with. Hemsworth added, “There is the accent as well as the physicality and the attitude. I will also have to do a deep dive into the rabbit hole of the wrestling world, which I’m really looking forward to doing.”
  4. Hemsworth has plenty of time for prep. Luckily, the movie hasn’t started filming yet and Hemsworth has plenty of time to make the progress he needs to make. “I haven’t even seen a script yet. The project is deep in development. Todd Phillips and I met to chat about it maybe a year or two ago. We talked about the idea for the film, which I think was going to be a TV series at one point,” he explained. “There were a few different ideas about what portion of his life it was going to be set in, so we spitballed about what it could be and what I thought it might be. Thankfully, they ran with a few of those ideas and the script is in the process of being written – but Hulk Hogan is still quite a way away.”

Whenever it does come out, I’ll be looking forward to seeing it!
