15 Little Things To Be Grateful For, Even On Your Worst Days

A bad day could really take you to the point of thinking that everything’s the worst and there’s nothing good in this world, but you would be wrong. It’s tough to see the bright side of things when we’re down, but here’s a reminder of what little things you should thank the universe for when it feels like it’s against you.

  1. Coffee. Strong, delicious coffee. You might have been short on those eight hours of sleep, but at least caffeine has your back.
  2. Messy buns on a bad hair day. Ran out of time and couldn’t get the hair together? That’s what hair ties and bobby pins are for!
  3. Having that one good friend that holds you down. There are many things we need to thank our best friend for, but the biggest one is just being around when you need it. There’s nothing like having a person to lean on to make you feel better.
  4. Your favorite song. Music is therapy, and there’s nothing like blasting your jam to dance it out and just wash all of the negativity away.
  5. Clean drinking water. Chances are, if you’re reading this, that you can easily find clean, drinking water which is necessary to live. Probably even for free! Don’t forget how amazing that is, no matter how silly it seems. Plus, there’s nothing better on a hot summer day.
  6. Short periods. We often complain about cramping and how uncomfortable our periods are, but we should probably all thank our lucky stars that nature didn’t make them last longer.
  7. Concealer for when the zit struggle is real. There’s nothing like watching a zit slowly disappear after applying some makeup. Take the small victories when you get them.
  8. The knowledge that everything is temporary. When something is really troubling you it could be comforting to remember that it’s temporary. Sometimes time heals wounds, or solutions come up for problems. It’s something we forget, but should be happy about.
  9. Being able to make mistakes. No making them doesn’t feel very good. However, when you’re able to look back on them, chances are you won’t regret them. Making mistakes helps you learn, and it’s all a part of growing up.
  10. Social media is free. Considering all the time we spend online checking out our profiles and creeping everyone else’s, we should thank our lucky stars we could waste our time completely for free.
  11. Tomorrow being your new start. When you do have a particularly crappy day, one thing you have to look forward to is getting into your bed and starting over the next day.
  12. Bad first dates. You might think I’m nuts at first for saying this. But it’s better knowing it’s not going to work after one date than wasting much more time on someone who turns out to be a dud later. If the bad date also makes for a good story, then you should really be grateful.
  13. Having love in your life. Love doesn’t always mean being in a relationship. Love could come from friends, family, or even a pet. Most people focus on the love they’re lacking, but be grateful for the love you do have.
  14. Headphones keeping you sane. Most of us underestimate how much our headphones affect our day, but once you’re without them and forced to interact with people who otherwise wouldn’t have approached you, or you’re very bored at work, you’ll get what I’m saying.
  15. The Internet exists. No more waiting forever with snail mail, immediately seeing the face of loved ones on the other side of the world, and getting news quicker than we ever had before? Life is so much easier now.
