It’s the most wonderful time of the year, sure, but it’s the also the best time to spend with your BFF. So instead of staying in and cuddling with your guy — or, if you’re like me, cuddling with your cat — get ready for a fun holiday season filled with your bestie. Here are 10 wintry BFF dates to do before ringing in the new year:

  1. Have a Christmas movie marathon. The Holiday? It’s A Wonderful Life? Love Actually? A Christmas Story? It can be hard to choose, so why not watch all four and then every other Christmas movie you own? Dress in your footie PJs (kudos if they’re matching), grab the popcorn, and have an all-day holiday movie marathon.
  2. Bake some cookies. Nothing will get you into the holiday spirit like making Christmas cookies. If you and your bestie are feeling a bit crazy, try making a gingerbread house or gingerbread village. Just don’t get too buzzed from all that sugar!
  3. Buy a quirky Christmas sweater. Going to a holiday party? Hosting a holiday party? Don’t be drab with that traditional ugly holiday sweater. Be a bit more creative! Hit up a “Hotline Bling” sweater or find one with a unique design to it.
  4. Splurge for front row seats at a holiday event. Whether you’re a concert fan, sports junkie, or theater freak, this holiday season go all out and get front row seats to your favorite shows! It’s Christmas, and you deserve it.
  5. Make the most of the winter weather. Snow is just so magical… when you’re not driving or commuting in it. After the first big snowfall, make BFF snow angels or snowmen while singing loudly (and off-key) to your favorite Christmas carols. If there’s no snow in your area, why not try ice skating at a local rink? Just make sure to wear extra padding for those inevitable falls!
  6. Get your eat on. It’s the holiday season, so why not splurge on holiday food? Have that second donut or third piece of pie — who cares? This year, forget counting those calories! Besides that diet starts next year, right?!
  7. Hit up the mall for some holiday fun. Christmas shopping is so much better when done in matching outfits. After you shop ’til you drop, get a picture with Santa – I’m sure you won’t get too many weird stares.
  8. Get your nails done together. Go all out and get a festive mani. While wearing red and green a week before Christmas is a must, that holiday mani with Santa’s face on your ring fingers is always a great idea!
  9. Decorate the hell out of your place. String those Christmas lights. Decorate your Christmas tree. Hell, even dress up your cat in reindeer antlers. The more holiday decor (and tackier), the better. Once you’ve finished one house, move on to the next.
  10. Share the holiday spirit. Ride around town yelling “Christmas lights” every time you see a house or storefront completely decked out. Winner gets a huge mug of hot cocoa with lots marshmallows.
